Blancpain Villeret Métiers D’Art Ganesh

It's all in the details. When you are incorporating a Hindu deity on the dial of your watch, you need to make sure the details are respectful, and this watch from Blancpain certainly does that. The black patina of the dial is displayed using a shakudō technique, which originates from Japan, along with fine engraving and damascening, which incorporates inlaying different metals into one another - typically gold or silver, into a darkly oxidized steel background - to produce intricate patterns. This piece definitely reflects the artistry of the watchmakers and is a beautiful way to honor the revered God Lord Ganesha.

Favorite watches of 2016 - Angelus

The moment I saw the Angelus U20 Ultra-Skeleton Tourbillon, it just blew my mind. How was it just floating inside the case? Where were all the parts that other skeletons have? Wow! And a few other expressions. In person the watch is even more astounding and only supports my desire to own one. Definitely on my favorites list for 2016.

Favorite watches of 2016 - Faberge

The Lady Compliquée Peacock Emerald by Faberge was created with the assistance of Jean-Marc Wiederrecht of Agenhor, (who has created several stunning Van Cleef & Arpel masterpieces as well). Inspired by a Faberge egg, four of the tail feathers of the peacock expand over the course of an hour to indicate the minutes, and then they close swiftly back to start the process again for the next hour. I loved the original piece launched in 2015, and this version with the addition of 52 emeralds and 6 emeralds cabochon, goes even a step further. LOVE!

Favorite watches of 2016 - MB&F

I’m not going to lie, I just love MB&F. The creativity blows my mind and I cannot wait for the day I can own one myself. In the meantime, I am drooling over another release of the Legacy Machine. However I’m torn, should I go with the LM101 in a platinum with a gorgeous blue dial or the LM1 M.A.D. Dubai limited edition in titanium with a striking green dial? What’s a girl to do? I think I’ll go with both of them thank you very much!

Favorite Watches of 2016 - Arnold & Son

I absolutely loved this Arnold & Son UTTE Skeleton, even more so when I learned from Arnold & Son head of innovation that the movement was redesigned from scratch, it wasn’t just the movement from the previously releases UTTE. That piece was never intended to have the dial removed, and would not have held up to the high standards of Arnold & Son design, so the entire movement was rethought out. The result, a stunning piece of machinery that also happened to be the thinnest skeleton tourbillon on the market when it was released.

Favorite watches of 2016 - Fiona Kruger Petit Skull.

I have been a big fan of Fiona Kruger and her work since I first saw her pieces in 2014. Since then she has grown in strength and is really making an impact on the world of watches, throwing all the usual conventions on their heads. A young Scottish female watch designer, whoever heard of such a thing! The PETIT SKULL Series launched this year is produced as a limited edition of 18 pieces. The multilayered guilloché layers are just killing me with their gorgeousness!
